SportsCenter International

Brian Diecks Design Inc., New York, New York, 1998

Description

The goal of this image campaign was to bring awareness of the popular domestic show ESPN SportsCenter to an international level while highlighting the wide range of sports that ESPN International covers. The visuals were to excite and attract viewers of many nationalities and in turn brand the show. Initial style frames integrated photographic, scanned and Xeroxed tape, newspaper, and various paper elements with footage. These imperfect pieces, combined with 3-D wire frames, brought out the intensity of the competition of the sports and their athletes.

The frenetic pace was spontaneously brought to a halt by freezing the footage while the graphic elements continued to dart across the screen. This visual treatment gave ESPN SportsCenter International a look they could call their own and brand the show.
