Socio X designed the Paper cover to inspire Paper’s target audience—creatives and hipsters, people who want to be on the cutting edge culturally and who appreciate Paper for being on the cutting edge creatively.

Socio X created the October 1996 issue with a cyber theme, as the cover features digital deejay L.T.J. Bukem. We purposely shot Bukem with techno lighting, a glow emitting from his mouth, and futuristic clothing and props. We then digitally manipulated both the iamge and the type, to make them appear as if on a glowing light board. The inspirations were modems, microwaves, and monitor-driven RGB color.
