Americlef

Americlef

MTV Networks, 2007

Description

Produced for MTV, the short film Americlef showcases Wyclef Jean as MTV’s artist of the week, and promotes his new album Carnival II: Memoirs of an Immigrant. The film tells the fabled story of Wyclef on the run from immigration officials through the city of New York. As Wyclef flees, he takes shelter in several locations, each time adopting a new persona (Whoclef, Whereclef, Howclef and Whatclef) and slipping into a different world of music.
This is a film that touches upon the social matters that Wyclef and MTV champion, as well as the music that both the artist and the channel celebrate. Wyclef collaborated enthusiastically with MTV to create the short film, which aired online in four consecutive segments. MTV ran a series of promo image pieces, which gave a taste for the film and drove thousands of viewers to the site to view the film in its entirety.
