Description

Juror Notes

Nonsense, Both acts are insults. Washing isn't made
acceptable by being cute.
The only effective thing would be to embrace the flag.
When Reader's Digest issued flag decals to millions of
right-wing hawks, the Peace Movement should have issued
tens of millions of identical decals to be posted on the cars
of peace advocates. By burning and washing the flag,
left-wingers conceded the flag symbol (and all it
represented) to the opposition. Instead, they should have
claimed the flag, made it their symbol.

They should also have claimed the Constitution. When
Nixon used the term "strict constructionist," left-wingers
should have put up posters of the U.S. flag, with two
captions; PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION and
PATRIOTS FOR PEACE,

I think both propagandist and designer must first ask
themselves: am I interested in winning an argument or
making a sale? —Edmund Carpenter
