Intelligent Design, Creating an Evolved Red vs. Blue State of Mind

Thirst/3ST, Barrington, Illinois, 2006

Description

Intelligent Design is a 24-page, limited-edition, 16 x 20 book conceived as a culture and design. The King James Bible - Book of Genesis was converted into ones and zeros, the ones represented by Pepsi One cans and the zeroes by Coke Zero cans. The details of execution are all finely considered and the use of technology underscores the moment in which this statement is made. A program in JavaScript instructing InDesign to assemble the design was used to place over 1,000 visual links per page. Certainly these cans are icons of competitive global consumerism and evidence of focus-group testing and its influence on design; in some remote way, they may symbolize the digital orgy in which we are all engaged. But for sure, they are a warm homage to Andy Warhol.
