Shakespeare After Theory

Shakespeare After Theory

Weinstock Design, New York, New York, 1999

Description

I wanted the jacket to feel both historical and modern in sensibility, to allude to the act of writing without being too literal and to use actual words from the plays so that the viewing experience would be more emotional and immediate.
My solution was to create a sensual, simple image using stacks of deckled 100 percent rag cotton paper (16th-century style) and to layer text from Hamlet and Macbeth in a somewhat unexpected, graphic way.
