Phish: Hampton Comes Alive

Jager Di Paola Kemp Design, Burlington, Vermont, 2000

Description

Phish fans are very dedicated to the band, and revel in their live shows, to the extent that live recordings tend to be cherished more than studio recordings. This Hampton show in particular is a unique cross-section of Phish’s music over the years, with some songs from early albums, some more recent, and some very unusual covers. Our challenge was to create a unique, compact six-CD package containing CDs and a booklet that is reflective of the eclectic Phish character. The package opens from two directions—each compartment contains three CDs. The CDs are in individual sleeves, each containing a booklet listing the music for that CD. The concept was documentary—to divide the experience into a modular puzzle. The CD and case look and feel special and valuable. The graphics are progressive, contemporary, and in line with the current popularity of the band.
