Our Best Selves: The Campaign for Loomis Chaffee booklets

Pentagram, New York, New York, 2002

Description

Loomis Chaffee is a private high school in Hartford, Connecticut, with a progressive heritage and ambitious plans. We were asked to create a new corporate identity that could be applied to all of its communications, including a fund-raising package, Our Best Selves, which would be used to launch a major capital campaign. Feelings about the school run deep, so the best way to raise money is to tap into those feelings. To do this, we documented different elements of the Loomis Chaffee experience in an unsentimental way: influential teachers as seen in unglamorous yearbook pictures, still lifes of mundane objects charged with meaning by association, photographs of special places unfamiliar to “outsiders” but well known to every alum. The result was a piece that was intended to be treasured rather than filed.
