Social Energy

SenseTeam, Shenzhen, China, 2009

Description

The exhibition is located in the OCT Art & Design Gallery, which is the first Chinese museum of advanced design. The environmental design of “Social Energy” employs the characteristics of a hexagon on the gallery’s outer wall. The design integrates the energy structure of a tiny molecule and explains the process of energy accumulation with huge red, white and blue gas-filling devices, leading audiences to a sumptuous and unique design feast. The exhibition’s interior also employs the concept of molecule structure, which appears at every entrance and is used by the library’s desks and chairs.

Juror Notes

More typography on the loose. I love graphics that take over buildings and adjoining bodies of water, especially when they are composed of gas-filled hexagons.

Great example of integrated branding that flows seamlessly between typography, print ads and environmental/architectural design. Smart, integrated, new.
