Les Peurs collection

Paprika, Montreal, Quebec, 2010

Description

Project brief: Les Allusifs is a small publishing house that distributes challenging fiction books by writers from around the world. Their readers are mostly people who have a big stock of cultural and literary knowledge, people who need to be surprised, challenged by their readings. They were starting a new collection, “Les Peurs,” and asked us to create the new concept for the covers.

Approach: The new collection had to be different from the previous ones but had to keep the look and feel of Les Allusifs. We used the line combined with archive photos to give it a simple, smooth, graphic and effective look.

Effectiveness: The books are already printed but have yet to be distributed. If we look at the past collections, we feel strongly that this one should find its public pretty quickly.

Juror Notes

The small trim and careful consideration of type and image is quite well done. Nice juxtaposition of archival photos and graphic line drawings.
