Yoko Ono “Yes” television ads

Planet Propaganda, Madison, Wisconsin, 2001

Description

Our goal with this campaign for The Walker Art Center was to announce Yoko Ono’s upcoming show in a provocative manner.

We wanted to keep the television spots minimal and elegant, so the type and image are sparse and slow to reveal. We also chose written works that did not necessitate any spoken dialogue and created a soundtrack that was only the recorded sound of snow falling, a reference to one of Yoko’s poems.

Juror Notes

“Maybe the execution isn’t stunning, but nonetheless, it makes me want to see the exhibition.”

“It raises the question of how do you advertise art. Do you interfere or do you remain neutral?”
