Small Pieces Loosely Joined: A Unified Theory of the Web cover

Kimberly Glyder Design, Bethesda, Maryland, 2002

Description

Small Pieces Loosely Joined attempts to explain the importance of the web and how it exists in our everyday lives—bringing multiple realities together. Every photograph I used seemed too intimate; the solution was literally to show small pieces forming a central unit. The spot gloss is another key design element. The small, glossy squares are not visible at every angle, but become apparent as a person picks up the book or catches it in the right light. This visual translation is directly related to Weinberger’s notion that the web transforms concepts of space, time, self and knowledge.
