A somewhat special subject is made interesting at once to the general public by its presentation in a volume with a natural backbone and handsome hand-blocked paper sides, by sensitive handling of types and type ornaments to suggest the period covered in the text, and by presswork so impeccable as to be evident to anyone. The list of illustrations is made readable by placing the titles of the plates in one column, and credit for their sources in another beside it.
