BodyPaint

Anat Weinstein, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 2002

Description

BodyPaint is an interactive, large-scale painting application where a person utilizes his body as a virtual brush on a large canvas. The user’s movements are captured on the canvas through an array of colors. Different effects can be achieved by moving faster or slower, closer to or farther away from the canvas. BodyPaint is meant to stimulate the user’s creativity, spontaneity and abstract thinking through art. It was originally designed for children, but adults have enjoyed interacting with the piece just as much. Ideally, the canvas should cover an entire room, enhancing the experience and immersing the user in a completely isolated atmosphere filled with colors and movement. BodyPaint can be used in various public spaces like museums, restaurants, nightclubs and bars.
