everything is ok

MINE, San Francisco, California, 2007

Description

“Everything is OK” can be seen as an affirmative phrase or a condemning indictment of mediocrity. This agitprop campaign explores that tension by recontextualizing the phrase within the seemingly antithetical medium of caution tape. everything is ok is a public design experiment that creates additional layers of meaning once it is deployed: it becomes an interactive caption that modifies spaces, events, objects and traffic. Distribution of the tape is supported via everythingisok.com. Participants then make use of the tape as they wish, deploying it in public spaces as a form of guerilla commentary.
