The Casinos at Buffington Harbor

The Casinos at Buffington Harbor

PlanCom, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, 1996

Description

The Casinos at Buffington Harbor, located on Lake Michigan, is home to the Trump Princess and Majestic Star Floating Casinos. Primary objectives in the design of the environmental graphics systems were to create a strong, recognizable identity, to inspire excitement in visitors, to promote a card and gaming theme, and to complement existing architecture and interior design.

The exterior design solution begins with the main site sign, a grand entrance incorporating ninety-foot-high towers with ten-foot-high neon channel letters that serve as a beacon and a landmark for visitors. The sign enhances its environment through the use of materials and design themes and helps to create a meaningful, distinct identity for the Casinos at Buffington Harbor.
