Bird Hand Book

Bird Hand Book

Doyle Partners, New York, New York, 2001

Description

The book is about language: the language of photography and the language that humans use to relate to these delicate, ethereal creatures. The design of the book allows the photographs and the essay to flaunt their unique eccentricities while coming together in an elegant and visually entertaining way. We tried to allow Victor Schrager’s photographs to resonate with luminosity and strangeness and A.S. Byatt’s essay to act the way it reads—a gorgeously written patchwork of man’s attempt to harness with words the mystery of birds.
