Rethinking the Romans

Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, Rhode Island, 2009

Description

The catalogue Rethinking the Romans can be viewed as a companion volume to the original catalogue, Classic Sculpture by Brunilde S. Ridgeway, and as a proposal for another way of organizing the exhibition. It is a documentation of reinstallation process and a proposal for other ways of seeing these ancient sculptures by merging them with more accessible public environments. The storage room reveals unexpected arrangements. The juxtaposition of sculptures and objects allows for a new perspective. These fragments are photographed and sequenced to create a second narrative and present new ways of ordering.

Juror Notes

The author-designer invites us to rethink the construct of a museum experience through an arresting, low-tech yet meticulous assembly of images and text.
