The USGBC is a rapidly growing nonprofit organization that promotes environmentally friendly building practices. They had just expanded into a new office space that was renovated according to their own LEED guidelines for measuring environmental impact. A generous donation of construction materials and office furniture from USGBC member organizations made this expansion and renovation possible. The USGBC charged us with finding a creative and appropriate way to acknowledge the donors’ contributions.
The “Many Thanks” wall combines a digitally printed petal pattern with “real” petals that project off the wall. Both photographed and actual materials, representing the components of the environmentally friendly products donated to the USGBC’s office, work to create visual and tactile interest, while recognizing the project’s donors. The dimensional petals were fabricated using custom stainless steel hardware and a whole range of green substrates and finishes.
The resulting wall brightened an otherwise drab conference room, while still providing an appropriate thank-you to the donors. Most important for the USGBC, the contributing manufacturers were thrilled to see their names and products showcased prominently in the completed office space.
