Description

The project is part of a series related to my research on printing and historic type at the Hamilton Museum in Wisconsin. Each brochure since 1999 focuses on my current work and research into type, printing ink, and both commercial and handmade papers.
The approach I took was to produce a full-color piece with a minimal budget. Therefore, the brochure is printed offset in two colors on two sides, and the reduced, full-color Xerox images are trimmed and tipped in by hand.
Each brochure (this is the fifth in the series) is distributed and/or sold individually or in sets to promote sales of the prints, which go to support student assistance and my research at the museum. The brochures have been successful as design-juried pieces, but they have also generated sales for the individual prints and promoted interest in historic typography, letterpress printing, and the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum. The prints are experiments exploring paper, printing processes, and both oil-based and fluorescent inks; they are produced in a limited edition and have been purchased by individuals, private collections and libraries.
