Description

The stories in Natasha chronicle the immigrant experience of a family of Russian Jews who flee their homeland for suburban life in the free world. The nesting dolls on the cover refer to the ethnicity of the book’s characters and symbolically hint at the family’s desire to “fit in” in their new surroundings. The dolls not only proved to be an economical way of communicating the theme of family but also indirectly identify the work as a collection of stories.
