A lot of things that were intended to be the nicest end up being the most disturbing (like people who perform at children’s birthday parties). In a similar sort of way, I wanted the cover of The Bug—the story of two computer programmers whose lives are almost destroyed as a result of their inability to fix a bug in a piece of software—to be as outwardly innocent and straightforward looking as possible.
