I always assumed that this photograph was taken by Walker Evans. How fitting it would be, then, to reunite Walker Evans with his literary collaborator, James Agee. As it turned out, the photograph was actually taken by a lesser known WPA photographer named John Vachon. At least it looks like a Walker Evans.
