Description

Treasures from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts was commissioned to salute the Institute’s 115-year history and celebrate its collection. Larsen added a qualifier: we would not permit the book design to interfere with the art. Treasures succeeds. Each page isolates a masterpiece. Special care was taken to reproduce each work in its original colors. Working with existing transparencies, many of them over thirty years old, was a challenge. But the printer brought proofs to the Institute, and color was checked alongside the original art. It was this attention, this detail, along with the collection’s vibrant pieces, that gives the book its richness.
