The design of this publication has two ideas as governing principles. First was to achieve the best possible photographic reproduction available, hence the stochastic film. The second was to attempt to treat the bilingual display type of the catalogue differently, which was done by setting the English in Akzidenz Grotesk Bold Extended (a pun on the book title) and the French in Walbaum Italic, an unusual but successful solution. The intersection of the form with the content has proved very dynamic.
