Description

Whistler was a prolific lithographer, and this catalogue raisonné lovingly documents each stage of every lithograph the artist made. Additionally, it catalogues much of the ephemera related to Whistler’s lithography—the artist’s correspondence with his printmaker, his accounting, his personal and publication history, and the watermarks embedded in each of the papers Whistler used.

Throughout this 1,000-page tome, we tried to introduce visual variety and a clear system of organization while remaining true to the fussy, aesthetic, Victorian minimalism that characterizes Whistler’s work.
