Description

We wanted to introduce the black humor of the film in the title sequence. The movie centers on the urban myth that if your college roommate commits suicide, you are awarded straight A’s for the semester. Using the standardized test iconography, we devised our own SAT (suicide aptitude test). The credits were woven into the text as part of the diagrams and multiple-choice questions, each name getting a different treatment. By setting the titles in a funny, unexpected format, the sequence hinted at the dark comedy that follows. The music, Marilyn Manson’s cover of David Bowie’s Golden Years, provides one more ironic touch.
