Description

FUSE98.com was created to provide logistical information for the FUSE98 conference, “Beyond Typography,” held in San Francisco in May. The audience included potential attendees, participants, organizers, the media, and the design community at large. More than simply an information resource, the site was conceived as a “one-page wonder,” an online home base for the conference that would push the capabilities of the web using DHTML. Besides layered typography and concise navigation, a key element was the FUSE98 lab, a virtual test site for digital experimentation. Designers who visited the site were invited to contribute experiments for inclusion in the lab. Submissions came from around the world and ranged from a randomized business card generator to interactive poetry.
