Description

The challenge of this project was to match the beauty of André Aciman’s spare, haunting, emotional writing with an image and type choice that directly conveyed these qualities. After much research, I found André Kertész’s photograph Martinique. It perfectly emulated the two major themes of the book: exile and memory. The type was designed to support the quiet strength of the photograph. After several type experiments, we happily settled on this one.
