Description

Luis González Palma's original work is large scale and textural. The main challenge, as it is with all of our books, was to ensure that the reproductions showed the integrity of his original artwork, and were encased in something rich to convey his use of multi media (cloth, red ribbon, hand tinting and sometimes layering of photographs). We decided to use a rich, warm, matte coated paper and colors like red and umber. Our image sequencing flowed from full bleed to crossovers to page with white space, and we used elegant, unobtrusive text. Finally, the wrap-around dust jacket showcases the diptych image to maximum effect and the red ribbon is an element that the artist uses a lot in his work.
