Description

The biggest challenge was the fact that the author had written the narrative in such a manner that each page had to start and conclude with a pre-determined word in the text. Obviously, this strongly limited the typography of each text box, page and consequently the complete book as text could not freely flow from one text box to the next. Fortunately this resulted in a fascinating process in which both author and designer intensively worked together to make the text fit within the structure of the grid either by adjusting the typography or editing the text. As an important note, “messing” with kerning was never an option.
