(1975) Fifty Books of the Year

Description

The designer’s challenge was to express the monumentality and dynamism of Ansel Adams’ finest photographs. The book also had to be practical for a two-color press size ad special binding machinery, and be producible at reasonable cost. The first step was the selection of images in collaboration with the photographer, then arranging these as exciting facing pages, in a significant order. Meticulous attention was given to scaling and cropping, and consistency of quality through the press run.
