(1971) Fifty Books of the Year

Description

The book is a study of the challenge of Israel’s Negev Desert to man and animal. Prompted by the realization that Israel must meet this challenge to survive in the arid environment, a team of scientists reconstruct an ancient system of desert farming and successfully raise abundant fruits and vegetables. Designer’s Comments: Problems: the wide-angle photos, sometimes as wide as three feet, were submitted in pieces cut with scissors. Not a square corner anywhere. The exposures of the separate pieces were all different. We did the best we could with them within our budget.
