The task was to design a one-off poster for AIGA’s headquarter office to be placed in its competitions and exhibitions department. The concept was to express the variety and multitude of work entered and exhibited by using all the different names to describe the various design disciplines and categories. The intricate, overlapping letterforms and colored shapes was an idea that could not easily be sketched by hand—or even communicated to others—and is therefore a true computer design solution, directly created for the final Iris print process.
