“Light Years” was the theme of the 1999 annual gala held by the Architectural League of New York. The site, a Manhattan warehouse, was transformed for the evening by a variety of dramatic lighting effects. The poster took advantage of the coincidence of the matching number of letters in each word to create a “persistence of vision” effect reminiscent of a photogram. This graphic theme carried over into tickets, invitations and light installations at the actual event.
