New Urbanity: Entertainment in Singapore documents the research undertaken by Harvard graduate faculty and students in the field of urban design and planning. The book is meant to encapsulate their research efforts in the most efficient and eloquent format for a wide audience. Potential readers range from experts in government agencies to students in the field and individuals who have a marginal interest in contemporary issues of urbanism.
The aim was to embody the spirit of the book in the making of the cover. A sense of entertainment was thus realized with unusual materials and new printing methods that broke through the conventions of graphic design. Typical of Nassar Design’s work is the daring blend of genres and sensibilities: classical typography and design layouts with avant garde materials, colors, and printing materials. The result is a compelling hybrid that engages the viewer without losing sight of the issues of legibility, efficiency, and sobriety in the delivery of the message.
