Description

The Sugimoto Theaters book was published to feature the complete theater series (including movie theaters and drive-in theaters) by the fine-arts photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto. With the use of the traditional dry-trap offset printing process—by printing one color at a time and allowing the ink to dry in between runs—we have managed to represent the artist’s photographs as close to the original as possible in a book form. The cover has been silkscreened with day-glo ink and matte film laminated to conceptually recreate the illusion of light that is portrayed in these photographs. The special edition book is accompanied by a limited edition of Hiroshi Sugimoto’s U.A. Walker, New York 1978 photogravure print. One thousand prints were numbered and signed by the artist, and are cased in a custom-made, piano-hinged, brushed-aluminum box.
