The Dallas Theater Center came to us to design a poster/invitation for the Texas State of the Arts exhibition. I wanted the visual to suggest both Texas and the arts, so I selected pieces of famous art to create a cowboy. I think the poster succeeds because of the freedom the client gave us and because it communicates the message quickly and simply—like a herd of cattle at feeding time.
