Description

As Francesca is an erotic novel about a double life. The heroine is an ambitious professional by day and a cyber sex object by night. The novel is about what happens when those opposite parts collide. A detail of the Ingres painting of Andromeda— naked and tied to a rock, waiting to be devoured—turned out to be the perfect visual metaphor for the book. The classical image makes a nice juxtaposition to the medium of the Internet. The jacket works because the front and back panels become representations of the character’s duality, while the spine, the focus of the jacket, unites the two in the image of the shackled hands.
