Description

Based in the English department at East Carolina University, the North Carolina Literary Review seeks to combine the best attributes of an academic journal with those of a contemporary publication for serious readers. Nonfiction, fiction, and poetry are linked thematically in an eclectic manner with footnotes, etc., that follow Modern Language Association guidelines. The design is structured around a grid, consistent type families, and graphic elements. Though interpretive and sometimes challenging, the typography is designed with readability in mind. Our greatest asset is the dedicated individuals (faculty, students, artists, volunteers) who contribute to each issue. All are enthusiastic about language— visual and verbal—and where the two meet.
