Christian Brown started making his illustrated writings in order to reach a wide audience and provide an intimate experience—hence the scale of this book. A simple and bold design approach was chosen because of the dense and anachronistic nature of the book’s content. The book jacket was printed on a letterpress to evoke the tactile classicism of traditional book making in reference to the ornate line drawings and somewhat chimerical riddles and rhymes found within.
Simplicity, plus the pleasing texture of hand-drawn lines letterpressed on textured paper.
