In addition to reviewing performance highlights, the report’s goal is to communicate the value of YMCA programs to donors and volunteers. A phrase from the YMCA’s vision statement —“the heart of a healthy community”—provides a unifying thematic thread. Ten well-known photographers and artists were each invited to interpret a heart-oriented thought. The narrative sections are designed like book chapters to emphasize the literary feeling of first-person accounts.
