Description

When the recruitment catalogue for the Minneapolis College of Art and Design was designed, the goal was to make it hip enough to spark the interest of its student audience, yet structured and easily navigable enough to gain credibility in the eyes of their parents.

By creating a catalogue that doubles as a sketchbook—with dual front covers— we hoped to encourage potential recruits to keep the catalogue and use it to project their own work onto its pages.

The overall size, printing process and utilitarian design approach were significantly influenced by the production budget. Printed open web offset—a cost-effective, industrial printing method—on two different stocks, the catalogue was then drilled top and bottom for placement of a rubber band closure to use as bookmark.
