Description

Love That Dog is a novel told in verse for an intended audience of children, aged 8 to 12. Unusual text formats are employed in the book; the text takes on the shape of the subject of the poem, for example. It was my job to realize the author’s ideas typographically and aesthetically, while giving the book a cohesive feel. I printed the text in Pantone blue rather than the standard black to give it a scholastic feel, as if Jack, the protagonist, was writing his poems in blue ink.

For the jacket, I used three Pantone colors, plus black. The soft colors were enhanced by matte finishes. William Steig’s wonderful line art of a dog completed the package.
