The Appleton Design Council, headed by Pat and Greg Samata, developed the idea of a simple paper promotion of several small books. The directive was to create a publication that, quoting John Bielenberg, “offers meaningful thoughts and insights in a frenetic age of meaningless information and vapid graphic executions.” The size, color and page count were predetermined. Designologicus combined the concept of looking inward, quantifying and categorizing designer preferences, archetypes and sociological issues.
Each section of the book was divided among the designers in the AdamsMorioka office. As the information was gathered or created, additional layers of information were applied to existing charts. The information regarding hobby choice was divided by designer archetype, and then detailed in a range from disgusting to enchanting.
