Description

This award show assembled the year’s oddest in pop culture and put it into a neat, irreverent two-hour time capsule. We took this metaphor literally and wrote a story about a future expo city that is built to exhibit the samples found in a time capsule. The category animations show these exhibits. They parody modes of contemporary art, with the category titles appearing on museum plaques. All design aspects reflect the contradictory ideas of futurism and timeliness, from the stylistic references (midcentury utopian architecture) to the rendering (complex 3-D combined with old photographs) to the typeface (originally designed for a science fiction movie).
