The author, a first-time dad-to-be, wrote about the anticipation surrounding the arrival of his baby girl—especially in a culture where a man is often expected to want his first-born to be a son. The only direction given to artist Mirko Ilic was to incorporate the sonogram of the author’s daughter in his illustration.
