Description

The brief was to design Fourth Estate’s six-month catalogues featuring books with titles but without showing the actual book covers. The solution was to choose a different visual theme for each catalogue, using the book titles as the starting point. The 2002 catalogue featured quirky illustrations rendered in scraper board, each drawing making a pictorial reference to the subject. It is printed on low-cost black matte paper, with text and drawings silk-screened in white. Catalogue 2003 is printed with two special colors on matte stock. The original drawings, which were rendered on carbon paper, were also printed and became endpapers in the catalogue.
