To promote the launch of Repeat by Hella Jongerius—an innovative textile composed of a series of patterns seamlessly flowing into one another—Maharam requested that A4 Studio develop a suite of graphics to be distributed at NeoCon, a contract-furnishings trade show.
Designed as a sketchbook depicting the working “process” of Hella Jongerius, the book Process includes photographs, line art and project references, such as page inserts of laser-cut jacquard printing cards and textile color swatches. The incorporation of crop marks, color bars and page notes echoes Jongerius’ penchant for manipulating traditional manufacturing methods and materials, while also emphasizing A4’s desire for an unfinished feel. The binding and the double-sided book wrap upholds Jongerius’ belief in personalizing mass production. The creation of multiple designs for both invitations ensured that even within small offices, recipients would get different invitations.
