The Rice Alliance supports the development of start-up technology businesses arising from members of the Rice University community. The 2001 report focuses on the alliance’s reach into the Houston community, which generates positive chemistry with the rest of the university and with external organizations. The result is a book based on a 1950s chemistry textbook and supports the theme and content with simple, unrefined graphics and interfaces. Because of budgetary concerns, the size of the book was dictated by the number of pages we could fit on one press sheet, and the book was printed two-color throughout on colored paper. And since Rice Alliance events are also networking events, perforated, temporary business cards are bound into the back of each book.
